Chocolate mousse: sweet, creamy, decadent, and... healthy? I'm a sucker for anything chocolate, so I decided to reimagine this indulgent classic in an unexpectedly healthy (yet still just as dreamy) version using the oh-so-versatile avocado. Swoon. Truly, I think this might be my favorite dessert I've made to date.
As much as I love avocados, let's be real - I really don't want to taste anything green in my dessert. The rich, dark chocolate taste of the raw cacao masks any lingering avocado-ness, making it totally kid-approved (promise!). Requiring only 5 ingredients, less than 5 minutes, and zero cook time, it's a really easy (and seriously delish) way to increase your healthy fat + antioxidant intake. I've been whipping up a batch on Sunday nights to enjoy throughout the week - it's one of my go-tos when I'm craving something sweet, and it makes a really wholesome sweet treat for kids as well.
et's talk health benefits real quick. The healthy monounsaturated fats found in avocados are essential for memory + cognition, balanced mood, mental clarity, and all around brain health. They also nourish the heart, support weight loss, and give skin a hydrated, dewy glow. Avocados are just an all around yes. The raw cacao is crazy high in antioxidants (beneficial for just about everything) and also supports the brain (specifically, our moods).
